1   Understand Success
To create a balance between the demands of your work and your life, you need to examine what success means to you. Start by clarifying your values, purpose, roles, and attitudes so that you have something to measure your achievements against.

2   Work smarter, not harder
Work smarter, not harder In a fast, busy world, you pay a high price for confusing success with constant adrenaline, endless activity, all work, not rest, and no play. Avoid working long hours to meet deadline, learn how to manage your time, and avoid falling into an activity trap.

3   Understand yourself
Understanding yourself and what you want to achieve enables you to live a fulfilling life. Look at your beliefs, be sensitive to your emotions, assess your priorities, and plan action.

  Ask for support
Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Friends and colleagues may be experiencing similar feelings to you, and talking to them about an issue can help you resolve it.

5   Put together your own jigsaw
Your life is like a jigsaw: it is made up of different pieces. Ensure that you make time for each important aspect of your life – your relationships, family, leisure time, work, and self-improvement – and begin to focus on your life as a whole.

6   Plan action
The key to implementing good intentions is to create and follow an action plan for your work and life. Identify your objective, clarify your goals, discuss your plans with those who will be involved in them, and set yourself achievable targets.

7   Adapt work routines
To be successful in today’s workplace, organizations and employees have to be open to new ways of working. Notice how globalization, new technology, and new employment trends are forcing change, and look at ways of adapting your work routine.

8   Understand change
Understanding the psychology of change can help you make changes for the better. Be specific: think about the changes you could make, the people who could offer you support, the obstacles you may encounter – and then take action.

9   Sustain balance
Maintaining balance is the key to professional and personal success. Be sure about what you want, live a healthy and fulfilled life, and stay motivated.

10   Celebrate success
When you achieve a success, make sure you celebrate it – celebration builds your confidence, increases your future resolve, and helps make success a state of mind. Recognize, reward, enjoy, and share.
