Your body changes

This is when things start to increase rapidly - your appetite and your bump! Having said goodbye to the nausea of the first trimester, you may feel ravenous a lot of the time and your clothes may feel a little tight. Pay attention to your body's needs.

Other changes

  • You're probably more energetic than in the early weeks.
  • Your bump may be just about visible.
  • You may have constipation.

Facts about you:

  • Your uterus is getting five times the amount of blood pumped to it as it did before the pregnancy, to support your growing baby.
  • Your kidneys are processing 25 per cent more blood than ususal.
  • Your heart rate has increased, and its output is 30-50 per cent above its pre-pregnancy level.
  • You've probably gained about 2.25-4.5kg in weight.
