How to: calculate the costs of maintenance when getting a
divorce.
It is less usual for maintenance to be paid when there are
no children. Usually, in this situation, couples opt for a
'clean break' settlement. However, with older couples
where one spouse (usually the wife) has not worked and it
is too late for her to start a career, maintenance may be
paid. The Child Support Agency (CSA) will probably get involved
in calculating maintenance payments where there are children.
You will both have to make sacrifices and you may find that
agreeing maintenance is far from easy.

How to: work with an insurance broker
In retirement, you need to be absolutely sure you have the
right coverage for your particular situation. You need to
have an insurance broker who is looking out for your needs,
not his or her need to make a commission.
Good insurance brokers
will have these characteristics:
- They know it is in their long term interest to find you
the right insurance at the right price
- They will not sell you uneccessary cover.
- They admit when you are better off using a policy from a
different agent
- They are every bit as helpful and responsive when you have
a claim as when you are buying a policy
